Lee Ann Crochunis is the Deputy Director of the Office of Information Technology at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) – the largest health insurer in the nation. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, she is responsible for a wide range of IT services, products, and systems that support the Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace programs, along with meeting the IT needs of thousands of CMS employees.
During the first 15 years of her career at CMS, Lee Ann worked on a wide range of issues such as Medicare Program Integrity, Y2K remediation, and agency-wide risk and project management. Later, she led change management for the Medicare fee-for-service program; planning for the procurement and implementation of Medicare Administrative Contractors (MACs); and, MAC contract performance and IT security compliance.
Next, Lee Ann spent 10 years working part-time in the private sector focusing on helping companies design and deliver IT support solutions for CMS and other federal agencies. During that time, she served as Chief Growth Officer for an 8(a) company as well as directed projects for several engagements with CMS and the Office of the National Coordinator.
Returning to CMS in 2018, Lee Ann has held several leadership roles within the Office of Information Technology. Most recently, before moving into her current role, Lee Ann served as Director of the Applications Management Group where she was responsible for the management and operations of a complex suite of IT Systems that support the Medicare program and CMS.
Lee Ann holds a BA in mathematics from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and an MBA from the University of Baltimore.
