George Murray, a native of Abington, Pennsylvania, has worked for the Small
Business Administration (SBA) for 15 years. In his current role at the SBA,
George is the Deputy District Director, overseeing a team that assists small
businesses for the state of West Virginia.
Before becoming the Deputy District Director for the West Virginia District
office, George was a team lead in the SBA’s Eastern PA District Office, where
he managed a team that provided SBA’s services to approximately one quarter
of the state of Pennsylvania, with the cities of Philadelphia and Harrisburg as
part of that territory. Prior to becoming the team lead, George served as a
Business Opportunity Specialist, where his primary responsibilities included
conducting information sessions that teach small business owners the federal
contracting process and the small business contracting programs; providing
support to companies that are certified in the SBA’s 8(a) Business
Development Program; and providing general business assistance to small
business owners inquiring about the SBA.
Prior to joining the SBA, George worked as a Senior Market Research Analyst
with SWOT Management Group, a sales and marketing consultancy that
supports information technology firms.
George spent the first part of his career as a Market Research Analyst/Senior
Market Research Analyst with Suss Consulting, Inc., where he provided a wide
range of custom consulting services to information technology and
telecommunications firms pursuing federal government contracts. Over the
course of his consulting career, he has helped his clients win more than $10
billion in federal contract dollars.
